West Virginia EPFP focuses on leadership, policy, and networking within the state and their relation to national education policy goals from a rural Appalachian perspective. The West Virginia Education Policy Fellows cohort meets in Charleston for 10 months beginning in September. West Virginia’s EPFP curriculum will focus on topics relevant to the state including:

  • The West Virginia education policy arena
  • Linkages between education and the West Virginia economy
  • Education, the economy and poverty in West Virginia
  • Issues embedded in the 21st Century Learning Partnership
  • Other issues and topics relevant to the Appalachian life and culture of West Virginia’s children and families as it impacts education and schools.

Current policy fellows include professionals from the public schools, higher education, educational non-profit organizations, the Higher Education Policy Commission, Center for Professional Development and the Department of Education. WV-EPFP fees for the 2008-2009 program year will be supplemented by a generous grant from the Claude W. Benedum Foundation. For more information on WV-EPFP, please visit www.fairmontstate.edu/cea
