Monthly AERA/IEL Education Policy Forum/Luncheon Discussions:

The forum series runs September-July and are held at The Library of Congress, Madison Building, 2nd Street and Independence Avenue, SE, 6th Floor, Montpelier Room (Dining Room C). (The closest subway station is Capital South on the Blue/Orange Line.) The past year's guests ranged from Bob Wise, President, Alliance For Excellent Education (and former Governor, WV), concerning high schools and NCLB---to Arthur Levine, president of the Woodrow Wilson Foundation and former president and professor at the Teachers College Columbia University, discussing his series of studies about schools of education. The schedule for Sept. '07-July '08 follows, and specific guests will be posted as soon as determined and notices mailed. Coalition for Community Schools’ 10th National Forum (April/May 2008)

Have you noticed the expanding “community schools” movement yet (which enjoys the support of educators, families, politicians, community activists, and business people)?  Its growing influence and evidence of positive results for children and their community can be experienced first-hand at the Coalition for Community Schools’ 10th National Forum, in Portland, OR, April 30—May 2, 2008.  The CCS is staffed by and housed at IEL, and to learn more about the event, visit their Web site at:  http://communityschools.org/.  The last Forum was a sell-out, so be sure to register now to secure a spot and the best price possible.
