SNAPSHOTS OF IEL'S PEOPLE AND ACTIVITIES

Class of 2005's Education Policy Fellowship Program (EPFP) D.C. site participants graduated in June 2005, in a ceremony held at the offices of another EPFP alumni. They were joined by sponsors, family, and friends to help celebrate their successful completion of IEL's flagship, year-long leadership development program, now in its 41st year. They now join the ranks of 6,000 other alumni nationally and internationally. If you would like more information, see our EPFP Web pages, http://www.iel.org/programs/epfp.html, or contact program associate Taryn Tyler at tylert@iel.org. Applications are now being accepted for the 2005-2006 class.

The 2005 Holmes Scholars (selected minority doctoral candidates in education from universities around the country) at their opening reception in June 2005, for their week-long "Summer Leadership Institute" in D.C. The Institute, co-sponsored by The Holmes Partnership, The George Washington University, and American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, is in its fourth year, and IEL has been a proud collaborator in helping expose participants to issues of national relevance through seminars and information sessions unique to our nation's capital. For more information, contact Dr. Maxine B. Freund (front row, white pants) at mfreund@gwu.edu. [That's Dr. Mary Futrell, Dean, Grad. School of Ed. & Human Development, GWU, second from left, and member of IEL's Board of Directors, along with our own IEL Senior Fellow, Dr. Mike Usdan, third from left, behind Mary.
