SNAPSHOTS OF IEL'S PEOPLE AND ACTIVITIES

It's graduation day for the DC site's Class of 2005-06 of the Education Policy Fellowship Program (EPFP), at a reception hosted by fellow EPFP alumni Doug Levin at his Cable in the Classroom headquarters.

The group heard brief remarks from another EPFP alumni, Henry Johnson, Assistant Secretary for Elementary and Secondary Education at the U.S. Department of Education.

It was also an occasion to say good-bye to long-time DC and national EPFP director, Hunter Moorman, who was given an "uber-leadership" award from IEL---written in his favorite second language of German!
Danke, Hunter!

IEL's Board of Directors welcomed new members and thanked former members at its April 2006 meeting in DC: (from left to right) former member Neal Peirce; Bert Berkley; Joe Aguerrebere; Regan Kenyon; Piedad Robertson; Badi Foster; former member Floretta McKenzie; chairman Roy Barnes; Kent McGuire; treasurer John May. IEL President, Betty Hale, is pictured in top left corner---she missed the group photo! (Her picture is by Scott Ferrell.)
IEL and AERA's on-going education policy forum/luncheons, held on Capital Hill, are topical, well-attended, discussions that also provide excellent networking opportunities. Here are some recent speakers and attendees---to receive these and other IEL-related forum notices in the future, send an e-mail to Denise Slaughter.
