Initiative
Work Plan
The Initiative is undertaking an ambitious plan of work. Throughout fall 2000, our task forces will produce and release reports on teacher, principal, district and state leadership in education. In early 2001, we will release a report on the special challenges and issues of urban school leadership, authored by Larry Cuban of Stanford University. Soon after, we will publish a final report synthesizing the earlier reports on teacher, principal, district, state and urban leadership. By summer 2001, we will round out these reports with a collection of case studies on innovations in urban education leadership. These pieces will lay the groundwork for outreach, discussion and activity nationwide -- in 2001 and beyond.
This schedule lays out our plans -- and while we may tinker with the dates, we are committed to providing as soon as possible regular, timely products and tools to address the leadership crisis in education.
